9 Unique Fall Bachelorette Party Destinations
Fall is such a great time of year to plan a bachelorette party because there are so many possibilities depending on the type of weather and activities your girls are interested in doing.
You can pack all your favorite sweaters and embrace the changing seasons or continue the summer dream and head south for a weekend in the sunshine.
This guide includes a diverse list of destinations across the country fun to help you choose the best location for your fall bachelorette party!
1. Newport, Rhode Island
Average fall temperatures: 50s and 60s
Best time for fall leaves: late October-early November
Fall in Rhode Island is stunning. Newport is a great choice for a fall bachelorette because you can enjoy the area’s pumpkin patches, cider mills, wineries, and stunning views from the coastline. You won’t even have to try to take cute pictures because the location will do all the work for you! Especially from the Cliff Walk.
It’s also a convenient destination even if your group is flying in there is a major airport in Providence and the state is so tiny that you can easily road trip the coast in less than a couple of hours.
Newport only has a population of 25,000, which is perfect if you want a cozy location that isn’t too isolated. The charming downtown has plenty of delicious seafood restaurants and boutiques to explore.
During the autumn season, frequent festivals like the Bowen’s Wharf Seafood Festival and other events are going on.
Because Rhode Island is located in the southern part of New England the leaves typically change later in the season (late October-early November).
2. Charlottesville, Virginia
Average fall temperatures: 60s and 70s
Best time for fall leaves: beginning from early to end of October
Planning a fall bachelorette party in Charlottesville, Virginia will be an affordable alternative to more popular choices like Ashville, Willmington, Charleston, or Savannah. Even though Charlottesville isn’t directly near a big city it does have Charlottesville Albemarle Airport. The next closest would be the Richmond International Airport which is 73 miles away.
The best part is that you won’t have to sacrifice affordability for fun activities and great cocktail bars because it has both! There are also plenty of wineries in the general area but you’d need to make reservations for popular spots like Mount Ida or Del Fosse. If you want to experience several wineries book the Hop-On Tour.
If your group wants to dance check out Bebedero (confirm on their Instagram that they have a DJ scheduled).
Charlottesville also has a nice selection of day spas if you have the budget to splurge on some pampering.
Aspen, Colorado
Average fall temperatures: 40s to 60s
Best time for fall leaves: beginning from the 3rd or 4th week of September
For the outdoorsy bride who loves to hike, Colorado is a state that is hard to beat for viewing the vibrant fall foliage. Of course, Denver is a well-loved choice but if you want something more unique why not consider Aspen?
Even though the wide range of fall hiking trails is Aspen’s main appeal there are also plenty of clubs to let loose in.
Flying direct is possible but sometimes the dates are limited and it can be expensive. A workaround would be to fly into Denver and then take a quick second flight from Denver to Aspen (there are 8 flights daily).
Mystic, Connecticut
Average fall temperatures: 50s to 60s
Best time for fall leaves: beginning in late September
One of the more unique fall bachelorette destinations on this list is Mystic, Connecticut. There isn’t a nightlife scene so this would be a great choice for the bride who wants to keep things low-key and focus on seasonal activities which make this town special.
Clyde’s Cider Mill is a must and closer to Halloween you can join the Seaside Shadows Haunted History Tour through a graveyard or towntown Mystic.
Other popular activities include a riverboat cruise, the Essex train/steamboat combo, and Gillette Castle. Many casinos and wineries in the area are also popular with bachelorette groups.
If you drive a little way out of town you could indulge at The Spa at Norwich Inn.
San Diego, California
Average fall temperatures: 70s
San Diego is a great choice for beautiful fall weather and brides of all different interests. With dozens of hikes within arms reach, beaches and water activities, wonderful cuisine, beautiful cocktail bars, and clubs it truly has it all!
It can be a reasonably priced flight depending on where your group is coming from.
Plus, if you wait until most of the tourists leave in October or November you’ll be able to take advantage of more affordable accommodations.
Boating will still be comfortable but don’t plan on swimming. Instead, plan a group hike for sunrise or sunset (there are so many in the general area), go for a spa day, rent bikes, or go winery hopping.
The food in San Diego is also some of the best in the country so you’ll be in for a treat.
If you want to get away from it all Joshua Tree is only a 45-minute drive away.
Clearwater Beach, Florida
Average fall temperatures: high 70s and 80s
If you’d rather take off some layers than put them on, set your eyes on Clearwater Beach, Florida. I can’t think of a better place to bask in the sun and enjoy the ocean with your best girls.
Over the years, Clearwater Beach has won many awards for its shimmery white beaches. Most recently in 2023 by USA Today.
Clearwater also has plenty of trendy restaurants and fun beach/rooftop bars. If your group has a bigger budget you might be tempted to stay at the new JW Marriot which has its own private beach.
Dunedin, Tampa, and St Petersburg are close so there is plenty to explore while in the area.
A fall bachelorette in Clearwater won’t disappoint, however, remember that hurricane season lasts until the end of November so make sure that your flights and hotels/Airbnbs have a flexible cancelation policy.
Portland, Maine
Average fall temperatures: 40s to 60s
Best time for fall leaves: last week of September or first week of October
Maine has many beautiful areas, but we recommend Portland for your fall bachelorette party. It’s an unexpected location but we love it because it has a major airport, a small-town feel, and great bars, shops, and eateries.
If you want to eat fresh lobster there will be plenty of it, but you can take a more up-close and personal route with a lobstering tour. Your group will learn all about these creatures and enjoy the coastal views. With Lucky Catch Cruises you can also buy any lobster caught and take it to a nearby partnered restaurant to be prepared fresh for dinner.
Wharf Street is where most people go out and there are enough fun bars, so walk around until something stands out! For something more laid back, schedule a beer or wine tour.
Other ideas include island hopping or visiting the Portland Headlamp.
Sonoma/Napa Valley, California
Average fall temperatures: 70s
Best time for fall leaves: early November
Choosing Sonoma or Napa Valley as your fall bachelorette destination should be an obvious choice if your bride is a wine enthusiast. Not only will you get to sip and sample some of the country’s finest wine but if you time it right you can enjoy the fall colors too!
Napa Valley is known to be expensive but the neighboring Sonoma tends to be a little more affordable. You could even base yourselves in San Francisco and then take a day trip to wine county.
If you have the budget to stay in Sonoma or Napa another fun activity could be visiting their hot springs/mineral baths.
Note: It’s best to go with a smaller group (up to 6) to be easily accommodated at wineries and restaurants. Otherwise, you’ll need to do your research.
Chicago, Illinois
Average fall temperatures: 50s and low 60s
Best time for fall leaves: early to mid-October
This bustling city may not be the first fall bachelorette location that comes to mind but it shouldn’t be overlooked.
The weather is best enjoyed in early fall (September and October) when you will still be able to enjoy rooftop bars, rent a boat, or go on an architect tour. There are even awesome fall festivals and pumpkin patches like Jack’s Pumpkin Patch that are right downtown.
However, in case the weather is a bust or you’re going later in the season, Chicago has plenty of indoor activities that are unique to the city.
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
- High Tea at one of the hotels downtown
- Broadway show
- Spa for pampering
- Improv Brunch at Second City
- Sound bath (Ruby Room in Wicker Park)
